Madagascar, Escape 2 Africa

Ben Stiller and Chris Rock are back for the highly anticipated sequel to Madagascar, opening today nationwide. In honor of the return of these hilarious zoo animals, I wanted to share this cake I created last fall for a fan of the original film.

Highlights of this 2-tiered cake include lime green and aqua blue buttercream icing, fondant vines, palm trees, number topper, and of course, the whole Madagascar gang! Flavors included chocolate chip cake with vanilla buttercream and french vanilla cake with strawberry preserves.

Okay, I have to ask… how do you get the buttercream so smooth and the edges so perfect. Obviously a lot of practice but beyond that.. Your cakes are awesome! I recommended your site to Cakewrecks for their Sunday non-wreck cakes.

Thanks flourgirl, you’re too kind. Smoothing buttercream has almost become an obsession for me… lots of practice, patience and a pinch of OCD!

Hi! This looks amazing! So you mind sharing the size cake pans you used and how many layers of each to create this look? Thanks! I love your work ;)
