Fab Find: 3D Donut Cake

3D cakes have grown in popularity over the last few years.  While cake designers have been honing their skills to create amazingly intricate 3D cakes, new tools keep popping up to help the amateur baker create 3D cakes at home.  Carving a cake, which is the most daunting part, takes practice and oodles of patience….if you cut too much, there’s no going back!  But now, custom cake pans can help you create the perfectly sculpted cake with no carving required.

Last spring, we fell in love with Williams-Sonoma’s 3D Oreo Cookie Pan.  This spring, they’ve done it again with this adorable Giant Donut Pan.  It just doesn’t get any easier than this!  Bake the two cake halves, put them together and drizzle with chocolate icing.  Add some sprinkles and voila.  An impressive 3D cake that looks like you’re a master sculptor.

I just love this cake.  It would be perfect for a sweets themed table, a grooms cake or even for a Simpson’s themed party.  It’s both charming and super simple.  Be sure to let us know if you try it out!
