Real Party: Ladybug Baby Shower

If you missed yesterday’s post, I shared some exciting news.  My husband and I are expecting our first child, due in September!  And to welcome our new little girl, my family hosted an adorable baby shower in Houston.  It was such a treat to go back home to Texas and see my family and friends!  And thanks to some very special ladies who were crafting and cooking for days, this pink and brown ladybug shower was just perfect for our new little lady.

Guests helped themselves to a candy favor bar with pink and brown M&M’s and taffy. Glass favor jars were topped with ladybugs, of course!

There were pink and brown ladybugs everywhere!  From the diaper cake to the name tags, food tags and paper lanterns.  Even the sign outside welcoming the guests.  The menu included spinach dip, tarragon pasta salad, fruit, cheese, chicken wraps and chicken salad sandwiches (my pregnancy craving!).  Drinks included mint iced tea, lemon water and a mango punch.  For sweets, we enjoyed M&M cookies, little petit four cakes shaped liked ladybugs and these addictive Oreo truffle balls.  Yumm!

Everything was just perfect and the food was delicious!  I couldn’t have felt more love for our new little girl.  Thanks to Ashley, Cathy, Jenn and Sheila for hosting such a wonderful shower to welcome Baby Sellman.

Adorable! Your family did such a nice job!

  2. Oh my gosh, they did an amazing job!! The brown and pink ladybugs are genius. Most people feel stuck with a black and red color palette when creating a ladybug party.

Carrie, it was so good to see the new beautiful you, :) ! We are wishing you all the best everyday! I must say a BIG WOW is in order to Jennifer and Ashley for all the creative ‘lady-dot’ decor. Even down to the escapee lady bug crawling off the lantern onto the hanging ribbon (Sheila!). The Truffles are a MUST share recipe! Carrie, we will be up there in spirit for your next shower! Much Love! Cathy-n-Kids

  12. [...] yet another fabulous welcome via a couple’s baby shower.   A few weeks ago, I shared the pink and brown ladybug shower that my family hosted down in Houston.  This time my husband was included and we celebrated with [...]

  13. A diaper cake is usually a multi-layered cake and many people compare it to a wedding cake when they look them far away. In a way, we can say a diaper cake is nothing but a collection of a lot of diapers, and it usually takes dozens to make a complete diaper cake, they are wrapped around to each other in a circular way to make a diaper cake. If you’re searching for diaper cakes for baby showers you can have a look at my site.

I MUST know where to purchase the decor for this shower! My cousin is in love with pink and brown and I know she would die for a shower like this, and well, I am throwing it, so I plan to deliver the best suuprise babyshower yet! ;) Please give me as much info as you can! Thanks much

Christina – My sisters threw this shower in honor of our little girl (who was just born last week!). They spent weeks creating all of the decor that you see in the photos, so unfortunately it’s not something you can go purchase. I do know that they purchased a ladybug hole punch to create the little ladybugs that are attached to the signs and name tags. It’s a Martha Stewart punch available at Michael’s.

Good luck and have fun planning your cousin’s shower! Be sure to send us pictures if you’d like to have it featured on Half Baked!
