Fabulous Royal Inspired Cake

If you’ve been following along this week, you’ve probably noticed the Royal Wedding theme that has permeated most of our posts.  Well, I certainly couldn’t change the theme today of all days!  And what is a wedding without cake?  Inspired by Kate Middleton’s personal style and love of elaborate hats, this Royal Wedding Cake by The Caketress is most definitely fit for a princess.

A few thoughts from Lori, owner of The Caketress, on her royal inspired design:

“I wanted the “Kate Middleton” to have a touch of traditional elements but stylized to suit a trend setter like herself. I noticed with her personal style she wore beautiful print and elaborate hats. Instead of doing cascading spring flowers to the cake, I did an assortment of fabric ruffles, edible dollies, pearls, black lace and royal gold accents to the design. It will be interesting to see what the couple’s wedding cake looks like. I’m sure we’ll be all watching.”

I absolutely love this design and all of it’s flirty yet elegant detailing.  I know Will and Kate will have an amazing cake, but it will be hard to top this one.  Maybe the royal couple should have hired Lori!

A very special thank you to Lori Hutchinson of The Caketress for the amazing cake inspiration.  You can see more of this Royal Wedding Inspired Cake, along with a royal wedding inspired photoshoot, HERE on The Caketress Blog.

Happy Wedding Watching!

Wow, absolutely gorgeous the caketress is a genious!! I like the way that the different layers differ in shape. Its cool the way that there are a couple hexagons in there for subtle variation.
