Fabulous Cake Friday: The Caketress

June 18, 2010 by Carrie Sellman

This week comes to a sweet end with another fabulous cake design.  Today’s design was created by Lori Hutchinson, owner of the Toronto custom cake boutique, The Caketress.  This amazing design in soft shades of pink has both a feminine and vintage feel while remaining utterly chic and modern.
Toronto Cakes - The Caketress

Here is a little of what Lori has to say the inspiration behind this design:

“For the design of the cake , I wanted to make it soft and cheery. So I incorporated several shades of pink and peach sugar pom poms. To give the vintage touch to the cake I created edible gold vintage keys and buttons. The main focal point of the cake was the fabric inspired large sugar flower which was hand painted with crafty touches.”

We think Lori outdid herself with this design.  A very special thank you to Lori for the amazing cake inspiration and to Rebecca Wood for the gorgeous photography.  Be sure to check out more of Lori’s fabulous cake designs on The Caketress website and blog.

Happy Friday everyone!  And remember, be sure to enter our current giveaway to win a $50 gift card to CSNstores.com!

Thanks for featuring my cake! It was a nice surprise to a very long cake day. I do have to mention the design of the cake was also inspired by the wedding design concept planned by Cynthia Martyn of https://www.cynthiamartynevents.com. When I saw she was using Pom Poms for the brides hair , I just had to make them out of sugar.
    Thanks Again

Peach and pink can exude such glamorous look. Each time I see tiered cakes, they are some blue or some red but soft shades like these also look good. The large petals in the foreground of the little roses add a fabulous appeal.
