Fabric Flower Cake

June 17, 2011 by Carrie Sellman

A cake can be inspired by just about anything… an invitation, a flower,  a pattern on a favorite dress.   Today’s cake is the perfect example of how inspiration can strike anywhere.  Created by the talented cake designer, Erica O’Brien, this lovely display was inspired by a pillow.  Yes, a pillow!  Erica took a fabulous flowered pillow by Dwell Studio and created one stunning cake!  Fabric flowers are everywhere, why not on a cake too?  With one look at this cake, I think you’ll agree that beauty can translate into many forms, including cake.

We love Erica’s work and are always thrilled to feature one of her designs.  She has an incredible sense of style and can translate almost anything into cake.  From a pillow to cake… no wonder this design is so dreamy!

A special thanks to Erica for sharing her lovely Fabric Flower Cake with us today! You can see more of her amazing cake creations on the Erica O’Brien website and blog.  Erica also teaches classes, including a class on making fondant ‘fabric’ flowers!  You can find the class schedule HERE.

Happy Friday everyone! Have a safe and happy weekend!

This is one of my favorite cakes of Erica’s! It inspired me to try a different style of fabric flowers on one of my cake trios and I loved the effect! (PS, Teresa, she offers classes on fabric flowers! Check out http://www.ericaobrien.com)
