Designer Handbag CAKE!

February 19, 2013 by Carrie Sellman

Today’s feature is one of those designs that stops you, dead in your tracks.  It’s seriously so incredible, it’s hard to fathom that it’s made of cake.  So incredible that I felt it necessary to capitalize the word CAKE in the title of this post.  If I could shout it, I would…. IT’S A CAKE!  And it has me seriously saying “WOW!”  It comes to us from a talented artist with a long history and amazing portfolio of WOW-inducing cakes.  It is always a pleasure to welcome Elisa Strauss, owner of Confetti Cakes in New York, to the blog.  With her incredibly realistic techniques and meticulous attention to detail, Elisa has been inspiring us to cake greatness for years.  Better tie that apron down tight because we’re taking a look at one of Elisa’s newest designs and hooking you up with details for her new online class.  Plus a special discount offer!  First, let’s gush over this impeccably tailored 3D Designer Handbag CAKE!

Elisa of Confetti Cakes tells us about her design:

“It was fun to create something that looks so real! I used both an impression mat (from Marvelous Molds) and manipulated the fondant with my hands- people really thought the cake was a real handbag.”

INCREDIBLE! I reposted it on my FB timeline. Never have seen a cake with such intricate, accurate detail. And you can just tell that it tastes as amazing as it looks.

I came here from pinterest because I thought it was a real bag. I was looking to purchase it! I took me until I read the text that it was a cake. I thought the brand was a bag/purse brand with a play on the word cakes. I even thought the piece of cake with part of the pocketbook was (photoshopped)part of an ad campaign. I was totally totally fooled. So realistic. I didn’t realize I was on a cake blog 🙂

Oh my god, no way. That is freaky realistic! I didn’t believe it when I saw the photo on Facebook, but wow. Well done, my friend.
