Ice Cream Party

June 7, 2013 by Carrie Sellman

It’s Friday and we’re wrapping up another sweet week with a double-scoop of inspiration with a cherry on top!  Literally.  Today’s feature is the most adorable ice cream party that will have you screaming for more.  In my book, any day is a good day for ice cream.  But nothing says summer like the chill of delicious ice cream on a hot, sunny day.  And just like a great cake, every birthday party needs a big scoop of this frosty treat.  Which makes today’s feature even more delightful, with its gorgeous ruffle cake and gallons of ice cream inspired desserts.  So grab your spoon because this is one delicious ode to ice cream.  Created by Dina Hafez-Suggs of  Deliciously Darling for a feature in Bird’s Party Magazine.

Sporting a hot color combo for 2013, this table is seriously gorgeous with its jade green, pink and silver.  From the ruffle cupcakes to the very last cone, there is cuteness in every single bite.  And let’s just stop for a moment to admire the incredible paper plate backdrop.  Gorgeous!  And affordable.  Double win with that one!  Dina’s sharing the full scoop on this party after we’ve enjoyed every last drop of these ice cream packed photos….

Dina of  Deliciously Darling tells us all about this adorable dessert table:

“As soon as the flowers start to bloom and the leaves start to grow I immediately begin to crave ice cream. I think I speak for children of the world when I say “We all scream for ice cream”.

I wanted this ice cream table to have a retro feel but a modern touch. I went with a jade green, pink & silver color pallet – pink for the girls and green to appeal to our boys. I’ve been wanting to do this color combination for the longest time.

Handmade paper plate backdrop {inspired by Blue Eyed Yonder} adds a fun element to this dessert table.  The gorgeous cake created by My Sweet Things makes the perfect focal point to the ice cream parlor. Little ice cream cups filled with strawberry ice cream, topped with a fondant cherry and ice cream spoon look absolutely perfect.

Ice cream pint containers with adorable ice cream labels make the perfect favor container.

Other sweets included Vanilla Marshmallow Ice Cream Cones {using the amazing recipe from SprinkleBakes}, delicious ice cream shaped cookies, strawberry cupcakes and strawberry milk.

Pro-Tip from Dina:  When photographing ice cream it’s best not to use real ice-cream.  I used “photographer’s ice cream” for this shoot.  You will need 1 jar of frosting to 2 lbs of powdered sugar.  I picked frosting that was already pink so that i could have the same consistency throughout.  Eventually the frosting and the powdered sugar will combine into a dough like form. Just scoop & snap away!  Looks real doesn’t it.  Shhh, our little secret.”
