Wonderland Cake

October 15, 2013 by Carrie Sellman

Hold on to your hats!  Today, we’re falling down the rabbit hole into a world of whimsical cake.  Many of you already know and love Yeni Monroy of Dream Day Cakes® , located in Gainesville Florida.  She is the creative mind behind cakes like this Dr. Seuss Cake and this Lalaloopsy Cake.  Oh, and this amazing Halloween Cake!  Well, Yeni is back again today with another fanciful cake based on the classic tale of magical doors, tea parties, mad Hatters and a girl named Alice.  Yes, all of the adventurous fun of Alice in Wonderland is captured in this over-the-top, topsy-turvy, birthday cake!  From The Cheshire Cat to The Caterpillar, the whole gang is making an appearance in today’s fabulous feature.  It’s a dreamy cake worthy of oodles of close-ups and cake admiration.  So let’s jump right into this fantastic Wonderland Cake!

Fred from Dream Day Cakes shares the scoop on this design:

“This custom cake celebrated a 6th birthday in the theme of Alice in Wonderland. Vibrant colors, outrageous characters, and non-traditional shapes worked their way into this birthday cake.   The top of the cake held the Mad Hatter’s black hat (cake) on a draping bright, fondant blue table cloth.  Edible tea cups stacked to the side of the hat were ready for a tea party.”

More from Fred at Dream Day Cakes:

“Underneath the draping tablecloth peers the Cheshire cat, complete with gigantic smile.  The cat is perched (for the time being) on a bright orange mushroom.  The details of this cake included an Alice jumping down the rabbit hole (head first), a pocket watch (to know if you’re late), eat me treats, flowers, and Absolem.”

More from Fred at Dream Day Cakes:

“Black and white fondant tiles made a great base, and with all of Yeni’s work — all of the decorations were edible (the pocket watch chain blew me away).”

As if this incredible cake weren’t enough, Yeni made additional desserts for the party.  Check out these adorable macaroons shaped like tea cups!  Plus these too-cute-for-words mini cupcakes with ‘eat me’ and ‘drink me’ toppers.
