When we talk about statement making cakes, today’s feature is sure to be on the list. It’s romantic, sophisticated and seriously spectacular. Inspired by the Art Nouveau period, this cake celebrates the architecture and designs of Charles Mackintosh. Tall dramatic tiers of white are accented with small touches of geometric shapes and a delicate band of lace. While strings of grass encircle the top and hold small berries in orbit. But the best part has to be gorgeous stems of roses created with a technique that captures the look of stained glass windows. It all takes center stage in a fabulous photo shoot in shades of blush pink and fresh green. And it comes to us from Claire Belton and Kirsty King, sisters and owners of Poshpud. Let’s take a look…
Kirsty and Claire of Poshpud give us the scoop on their design:
“The shoot and especially our cake was inspired by the Art Nouveau period, with Charles Mackintosh and Margret’s love story being our focal point and theme. The bottom tier of the cake was to highlight and emphasize Charles’ design and architecture. Combining the softness of a floral stained glass technique used in the second tier of the cake. Finally completing the top tier with a edible sugar veil lace effect and stringed grass and berries to symbolize shape and texture.”
A special thank you to Kirsty and Claire of Poshpud for inspiring us with their beautiful Art Nouveau Cake!

That cake is absolutely beautiful. I’d love to see one of my couples have a cake like this.
Utterly stylish. Pure class and good taste! (excuse the pun 😉
Wow – these are works of art! I would have trouble making the first slice because they are so beautiful!
