Olivia has had a love for baking and cakes for as long as she can remember. She has fond memories of homemade birthday cakes and trying new recipes in Home Economics classes. But it wasn’t until 2009 that she decided to pursue this passion and attend cake decorating classes. She launched Liv for Cake in 2010 as a way to chronicle her journey into the world of cakes. In 2011, she took a break from baking and blogging to travel and experience new cultures. In the spring of 2014 the baking itch came back, and it was so strong this time that Olivia decided to leave her job and attend Pastry School at Northwest Culinary Academy, where she graduated at the top of her class. It was during her time in Pastry School that she revitalized her blog, and officially re-launched Liv for Cake in January of 2015 once she had completed the pastry program.
Her professional background couldn’t be further from the Cake world. She spent 15 years in the Video Game industry, first as a game tester, then Development Director at Electronic Arts Canada, and finally as an Instructor at Vancouver Film School in the Game Design program.
Olivia still has a passion for video games that goes back to her childhood years. She also loves almost anything to do with the 80’s, Disney, and Harry Potter. In her free time she loves to travel, and is always thinking of her next destination.
Olivia was born in Poland, grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, and has called Vancouver, BC home for the past 20 years. She currently lives in Port Moody, BC with her husband, Ryan, who helps inspire her creative ideas.
Olivia’s work has been featured on Better Homes and Gardens, The Food Network, Huffington Post, and in Sweet Dreams Magazine.
Olivia Bogacki also blogs at Liv for Cake.
