Laptop + Water = BAD NEWS

March 7, 2011 by Carrie Sellman

Yes, you read the title right.  Take a nice, speedy laptop and add one large cup of water and what do you get?  A black screen of nothingness and many headaches.  It all happened so fast yet in my head it plays back in slow motion.  Water all over my laptop.  Dripping out of every crack in the keyboard.  I tried to save it!  I had it torn open, guts exposed, to dry out with the hopes that when I hit the power button something, anything would happen.  But no…. nada.  Nothing.

I’ve managed to pull out our old dinosaur of a desktop which will at least enable me to get back on email.  But there’s no photo editing to be done.  This machine freezes if you look at it wrong, let alone open up Photoshop!
Don't Spill Water on Your Laptop

So hang in there with me. I have a super cute birthday party to share with you later this week…. once my new laptop arrives.  A laptop with an extended service plan to cover drops and spills!

Oh no! That’s awful! I just moved my glass of water away from my laptop. Good luck with the new computer.

    Carrie,

This happened to me with a glass of white wine and a friend trying to see the screen. It was a sad day but I called my super smart apple tech to take it away. I kept trying to turn it back on with tears dripping on to my beloved MacBook.
He could not revive it but he did sell the shell for parts which helped ease the pain. Congrats on getting a new laptop-I hope you got a bigger and better one.
