Today’s cakes feature a fabulously fun idea that I know you are going to love! With a fresh and fruity twist, these cakes are perfect for summer fun! Candy fruit slices become the star in these whimsical designs by Rebecca Sutterby, owner of Sugar Creations in Kansas. One design is all about lemon while the other is pink, green and perfectly watermelon. Both are ridiculously cute, not to mention incredibly creative! So let’s enjoy the sweet taste of summer with these delightful Candy Fruit Slice Cakes.
Rebecca from Sugar Creations tells us how these cakes came to be….
“I spotted those candy slices while searching the internet for gumballs in bulk. I just fell in love with the idea of using them on a cake. They come in several of colors/flavors, but I ordered the lemon first and had been waiting for a chance to use them. Well, I was given the dreaded “make whatever you want” instructions for an engagement party cake for my cousin and his bride-to-be. I was told their colors are pink and clover green and that was a head-scratcher, but then it hit me: “ooooh wait, I’m ordering the watermelon slices!” I got to use the lemon ones soon afterwards as well on a cake for my son’s girlfriend.”
I just love the pinwheel clusters of slices! Rebecca attached the candy slices to a fondant covered cake using melted white chocolate. Let’s get a better look at the lemon version as well….
Oh, the possibilities with this idea are endless! Mix up the colors and flavors to create a world of fruity cakes. Bakers of all skill levels can pick a pattern and have some fun! Go sleek, polished and professional (like Rebecca’s gorgeous cakes) or simply top off a rustic buttercream cake or your favorite cupcake.
A very special thank you to Rebecca Sutterby of Sugar Creations for sharing her incredible Candy Fruit Slice Cakes with us today! From the watermelon to the lemon, they are both a little slice of summer fun!

These are adorable! What are the name toppers made of?
These are really fun cakes!
I love it and I love the letters. I wonder were they free hand or a stencil or cutter.
I love this idea! Such cute designs!
How cute!!!
I was just searching for this info for some time. After six hours of continuous Googleing, at last I got it in your website. I wonder what is the lack of Google strategy that don’t rank this type of informative sites in top of the list. Generally the top sites are full of garbage.
