Equestrian Wedding Cake

September 7, 2012 by Carrie Sellman

I’m loving all of the vintage horse imagery slipping into bridal inspiration lately.  For months, I’ve been hoping to see a beautiful cake befitting this trend appear in my inbox.   And sure enough, that is exactly what we have in store today!  With diagonal stripes in blush pink and a delicate lace topper, this is not a horse cake per say.  But rather a sophisticated take on an equestrian theme, created by Renata of Lovely Cakes for a collaborative wedding shoot.  It’s a scene full of dainty horseshoes, soft argyle, coordinating side cakes and rustic charm.  Prepare to fall in love with today’s elegant Equestrian Wedding Cake.

Oh my goodness, it’s stunning!  And the more you look, the more there is to love.  Diagonal stripes perfectly spaced.  Dainty silver horseshoes peg the cross of a soft argyle pattern.  A mix of tall and short tiers accented with crimped edges and delicate rope borders.  And that is just the beginning!  Coordinating argyle side cakes topped with rustic pom poms complete this gorgeous scene.

Renata of Lovely Cakes shares the inspiration for her design:

“The inspiration for the shoot was equestrian, but I wanted the cake to also have a vintage feel.  That was the reason why I painted the stripes on the cake, so they would be kind of faded and antique looking.”
