Over the last year plus, burlap has been popping up everywhere! You can spot great touches of burlap anywhere from weddings and parties to fashion and home decor. I must admit that I am quite enamored with the burlap trend. I love finding new and interesting ways to incorporate burlap into an event. Invitations, table runners, flower arrangements and signs… all better with a little burlap! Its textured and natural appearance adds a touch of rustic charm to just about anything!
So when I saw today’s cake, I was instantly in love! It’s perfect for Autumn and features an incredible, and completely edible, burlap bow! It’s a rustic chic Sugar Burlap Cake, created by Rachael Teufel and her team at Intricate Icings Cake Design located in Erie, Colorado.
It’s incredible, right? I feel like I’ve been waiting for this cake! Brides have been waiting for this cake. Party planners and burlap-lovers have been waiting for this cake! Burlap itself has been beckoning…. for a talented baker who would accept the challenge and recreate burlap out of sugar. Well, Intricate Icings heard the call and answered in a phenomenal way! Let’s get a better look, shall we?
This gorgeous shot of the sweets table gives another perspective on the cake. You can see how the sugar burlap band wraps around the second tier to secure the oversized burlap bow. Okay, this calls for one more close up…
Oh, for the love of burlap! That bow is simply amazing! I personally hope the burlap trend is here to stay for awhile. And this cake is perfectly suited for any event where burlap makes an appearance. Weddings, showers, birthdays…. even holiday parties!
A special thank you to Rachael of Intricate Icings Cake Design for sharing this little charmer. We are in love with your Sugar Burlap Cake!
