It’s our third annual holiday series…. The 12 Cakes of Christmas!! We’re oohing and aahing over twelve marvelous cake designs, created especially for this series! All brand new, never seen before, and created by some of your favorite bakers! For our theme this year, we’re taking a moment to reflect on our favorite Christmas memories and traditions. It’s a feel good month, celebrating the little things that make this season shine bright. Each of our featured bakers was asked to create a cake based on a classic Christmas tradition.
We’re starting off our second week with cake number five. Our fifth cake celebrates the most festive meal of the year. We plan. We prep. And after the presents are open, we start our magic in the kitchen. It’s often a wonder whether eating the meal, or the act of making the meal, is the best part. As the memories we make along the way are equally as sweet as anything prepared in the kitchen. Because there’s nothing like gathering around a gorgeous table, filled smiles and the ones we hold most dear. The Fifth Cake of Christmas was inspired by…. Christmas dinner!
The fifth cake in our series comes to us from Sherri Meyers and her team at The Pastry Studio in Daytona Beach, FL. This is Sherri’s third year to knock our socks off with her contribution to our holiday series, as she dazzled us last year with her Gold Bubbly Cake and her festive Nutcracker Cake in 2011. Sherri has an elegant style that is refined, feminine and uniquely hers. You can spot a Pastry Studio cake from across a ballroom, and that is a fabulous thing! I had the honor of meeting Sherri last year and as I watched her fill a cake plate with petite cake pops, perfectly placed in angled rows, I knew that the precision we see in the photos is the real deal. Her meticulous attention to detail is what takes her gorgeous cakes over the top amazing. And this year’s cake is no exception. A crisp black and white pattern is paired with Emerald green and golden accents, creating a true work of beauty. It’s time for The 5th Cake of Christmas!
Sherri Meyers of The Pastry Studio shares the inspiration behind her design:
“When it comes to the holidays, we love getting the house ready and opening the doors to our loved ones. I love making things pretty and a festive and formal table makes me smile. There is nothing like a beautiful table, a lovely dinner and visiting with family and friends. This gives us the opportunity to slow down, enjoy one another and count our blessings.
My husband I pull out all of the seasons beautifully covered food editorials and go page by page to find new recipes for our dinner gathering each year. One set tradition is pies from The Pastry Studio. My family gives me their orders and I have at least four different pies I must bring home each year.”
Sherri Meyers of The Pastry Studio tells us about her technique:
“I cannot say enough amount the explosion of Emerald green, the Pantone color of the year for 2013. It has been fantastic seeing it in apparel, jewelry lines and so much more. So rich in depth, we thought it was the perfect color to celebrate the holidays.
I hope our cake design inspires you to get creative and establish some new traditions for the holidays. Pull out your finest dinnerware and set a gorgeous table for your next holiday soiree!”
A big thank you to Sherri Meyers of The Pastry Studio for inspiring us with her stunning cake design and for sharing a piece of her holiday tradition with us. We love everything about this Christmas gem in Emerald green.
