Christmas Present Cupcakes – how to decorate cupcakes to look like a gift box. A quick and easy holiday cupcake perfect for dessert or gift giving. A new tutorial by our contributors, Mary and Brenda Maher of Cakegirls.
I love Christmas. It’s an amazing time with friends and family. The city is strung far and wide with twinkling lights, the snow is sparkling, warm cookies fill the house with Christmas aroma, the tree is trimmed and the presents are thoughtfully wrapped. Traditional, poofy gift box bows became our inspiration for these easy and adorable Present Cupcakes. Each one a little gift to pass on to a friend. In the past, we’ve made tiny bows by hand, rolling small pieces of fondant, using a special bow cutter and then assembling each tiny bow carefully to look just right. This year, we skipped all that work and are using these colorful cupcake novelty bow rings. No muss, no fuss and as a bonus, when your dessert is done, you can wear them as a bow shaped cocktail ring under the mistletoe.
These are the perfect cupcakes to show off your favorite holiday recipe. Gingerbread, Peppermint or Egg Nog would all be fitting. Or, you can keep it simple and go with a basic vanilla buttercream which works well for this project. These cupcakes are so much fun to make, perfect for kids to practice their piping skills and the ideal time saving treat to bring to all those holiday parties. You can’t beat that this Christmas.
