Frilly Pink Owl Cake

March 27, 2013 by Carrie Sellman

We’ve been charmed by a lot of owl cakes over the years.  But let’s face it.  Adorable owl cakes just never get old…. who can resist those big eyes?  Especially when they come with an extra helping of sweet girly-girl fun.  So today we have a new owl cake to love!  A darling first birthday cake, created by Rebecca Sutterby, owner of Sugar Creations in Kansas.  Shades of pink and frilly ruffles are tied together with a gorgeous pink bow.  While damask and pearls add a touch of sweet elegance.  Only to be topped with the most delightful little owl with big blue eyes and a tiny pink bow.  It’s definitely awe-inducing!  And just wait until you see the matching smash cake!  Let’s take a look at  today’s Frilly Pink Owl Cake.

Rebecca of Sugar Creations gives us the scoop on her design:

“The cake was for a first birthday, as you can see.  The theme started with the Owl party ware that the client picked out.  But they were having the party at a Bed & Breakfast, so they asked me to incorporate a damask print and pearls to make it a little more fancy.  The ruffles around the base are fondant.  The damask is stenciled royal.  The pearls, bow, & owl are gumpaste.   And the smash cake was a little 6″ round. ”
