Ice Cream Inspired Sweets

June 28, 2013 by Carrie Sellman

I don’t know about you, but we’re creatures of habit in this house.  Our weekly routine generally ends on Friday night with homemade pizza and a squeal-filled game of hide and seek.  Once the munchkin is in bed, Mr. Sellman and I catch our breath before the weekend begins.  One Friday night, we got crazy and introduced ice cream into the mix.  Its funny how quickly a toddler can adapt to a new routine when it involves ice cream!  Now her definition of Friday is hide and seek… and ice cream.  Literally.  That’s what she squealed last night when she heard the good news… tomorrow is Friday.  Ah, now we all love Friday.  Just for different reasons.

So I thought we’d have a little Friday fun here on the blog, ice cream included.  We’re taking a quick look at a few of my favorite ice cream inspired desserts.  Everything from an ice cream pop cake to the cutest sugar cookie sundae.  Grab a spoon… it’s Friday and we’re digging in!

2.  Make your own whimsical Ice Cream Cake with this tutorial by Miso Bakes. Complete with swirled cones and sprinkles.  Learn how to make it HERE.

3.  What looks like an ice cream sundae is really a sugar cookie in disguise, created by Amber Kemp-Gerstel.  Learn how to make it HERE.

4.  These Ice Cream Cone Cake Pops by Icing Designs are teeny tiny and just too cute.  Learn how to make them HERE.

All the cakes are adroable but the one from Miso Bakes is my favorite. I love the simplicity to it and the ribbon adds character. Have a great weekend.

Hmm, I just love ice cream. Your cakes are beautiful. The ice cream cone reminded me of a tip one of my Facebook friends posted. Before putting ice cream in a cone, drop in (and push down as far as possible) a mini marshmallow which will absorb the bit of ice cream that always melts and makes the bottom of the cone soggy. Keep up the good work… love your posts.
