Dove Grey Wedding Cake

February 7, 2014 by Carrie Sellman

We’re wrapping up the week with a yummy new cake design that’s delicate and delightful as can be.  With a bottom tier completely ruffled-out with oodles of dainty white petals, all snuggled together.  Dove grey fondant is accented with a cluster of sugar flowers including white hydrangeas, brunia berries and dusty miller leaves.  A single white rose makes a statement while complementing the texture of all those amazing petals.  It comes to us from Charlotte Tyson of Sugar Ruffles and it’s seriously gorgeous.  And would you take a look at that incredible paper flower backdrop, also made by Charlotte.  There is just so much to love about today’s feature, that I think we need to jump right into these dreamy images.  Enjoy!

Charlotte of Sugar Ruffles gives us the scoop on her design:

“The starting point for the design of this cake was the sugar flowers. I wanted to create a cake featuring white roses, white hydrangea, brunia berries and dusty miller after seeing some beautiful bridal bouquets featuring these flowers.

The dove grey fondant was chosen to compliment the colours of the flowers and the ruffled petals on the bottom tier were created to add a delicate look to the overall design. A wall of paper flowers was created as a backdrop for the cake echoing the textures of the petals and sugar flowers on the cake.”

    Soft and elegant. The light shade if grey is so romantic coupled with the white rose and petal frills. Lovely.

    I really just like to do little things like make flowers, I’m not into making fancy cakes but these are beautiful, I ‘ll be 73 and I just like to see what other people have done and I hope you don’t think I’m silly . I like to look at the beautiful cakes people make and this dove gray is just beautiful;
    Thanks for letting me post this.
