We’ve come to the end of our latest cake series – The 2015 Wedding Cake Preview! We’ve spent the last two weeks oohing and aahing over marvelous cake designs and getting the scoop on 2015 cake trends from the ladies who know. Top cake designers were asked to predict which cake trends will be hot in 2015. Based on their insights, this talented group got busy creating innovative new cakes, exclusively for this cake series and especially for you! If you missed any of these cakes, you can catch up with the entire cake series HERE.
Let’s take a look back over the last two weeks with a quick recap and trends breakdown.
Each designer came to this project with her own perspective and we ended up with eight completely unique designs. When we step back and look at the overarching themes, we see trends that overlap in the most wonderful of ways. Let’s break down some of the highlights for you:
Metallics : Metallics will continue to dominate in 2015. Look for shades of gold, silver and pewter to appear in a wide variety of designs and styles.
Relaxed Elegance : Styles are relaxing and cakes designs are going with the flow. Geometric patterns are losing sharp edges for a more organic look. The unconventional, artistic style we all know and love as Bohemian is everywhere. Flower arrangements are loose and asymetrical with a wildflower-ish vibe. And the imperfect shadings of watercolor make it perfect for 2015.
Hand-Painting : Better brush up on those painting skills because hand-painted details popped in five of our eight designs!
Deliciously Beautiful : Taste does matter, even in the design elements. Buttercream flowers and chocolate flowers are a great way to go for gorgeous and tasty.
Sequins. Sequins. Sequins : Look for sequins of all shapes and sizes to add texture in 2015 designs.
Designer Details : Current fashion trends will translate beautifully into cake designs. We’re loving feathers, fringe and gold-dipped pieces.
Color : This may be the year that color makes a break for it! We saw so many great hues, from pale blues and vibrant pinks to deep, rich gem tones. And of course, the Pantone color of the year : Marsala.

Thank you for making my week a little more exciting. Sorry it had to end to soon, but I love every ‘trendy’ cake, and even want to try out some of the techniques. Everyone of the designers rocked. Super talented group.
