Pumpkin Cupcakes 8 Ways – Eight ways to decorate a pumpkin cupcake with buttercream frosting. Learn how to pipe rosette pumpkins, short pumpkins, tall pumpkins, easy pumpkins and frilly pumpkins!
Even though Halloween has come and gone, there’s no reason to end our relationship with everything pumpkin. Especially when Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away. We have a vast selection of pumpkin recipes here on the blog and more than a few delicious pumpkin cupcakes (like this classic recipe and this one with Baileys and pecans)! But what about the frosting? How can you decorate a pumpkin cupcake to make it look as good as it tastes? Today I’m showing you some fun ways to pipe your frosting – some of these are tried and true classics while others are brand new. Any or all of them would be a beautiful addition to your fall harvest table. Here’s 8 Ways to Frost a Pumpkin Cupcake!
Because this project is all about the piping and words simply cannot do it justice, I’m hooking you up with a supply list and a video tutorial. I hope you give it a play to see how all eight designs come together. Some are easier than others but all are achievable with a little practice. I used our classic pumpkin cupcakes with an all butter buttercream (because cream cheese frosting won’t hold it’s shape quite as well.) If you make any of these for your fall gatherings or Thanksgiving, share it with us on Instagram so I can see your creations! Just tag @thecakeblog or use #thecakeblog. Can’t wait to see what you do with this!

Hi, guys! This looks like a lot of fun, but I couldn’t find any actual link to the video tutorial in any of the internet browsers I tried.
Carrie Sellman says
Hi Heidi – the video is right after the supply list, in the section labeled Video Tutorial. 🙂
JRB says
When clicked on video tutorial,it goes nowhere.
Carrie Sellman says
Correct, the line saying “VIDEO TUTORIAL” is not a link. It is just a header label. The video should appear directly below those words. It is a horizontal image showing one of the pumpkin cupcakes with a white arrow in the center. Click the white arrow to play the video. Hope that helps. 🙂

Hi Carrie,
Hate to be a pain, but I also don’t see the video embedded in the page. Is it possible it’s the browser?
Thanks for your time 🙂
Carrie Sellman says
I’m sorry Erica – I’m not sure why you’re unable to see the video. I’ve checked it on both mobile and desktop, Apple and Android. And I can see in the stats that it’s being viewed by others.
Kathy Ferguson says
I don’t have the link either 🙁 There is a picture box showing all 8 pumpkins, and another one showing just one, but neither have the arrow indicating a video. Is there another place we can go to watch the tutorial?
TRACY NUZZOLO says
Can you please post the link to the tutorial again? It’s not working
Susan says
I’ve tried several devices and there is no link to the video. The words are there, but no video.
Donna says
I was able to get to the video just fine. Thank you for posting it. Very helpful.
