10 St. Patrick’s Day Treats

March 2, 2018 by Carrie Sellman

It’s finally March! And how can we NOT be excited about all the wonderful occasions this month brings? Soon we’ll welcome the official first day of spring, the weather will turn, flowers will sprout, schools will be out for spring break and then Easter will arrive. Doesn’t all of that just sound marvelous? But first things first. Saint Patrick’s Day!

Growing up with a red-headed Irish grandmother, we knew that green was mandatory on St. Patrick’s Day… or you would pay the price in pinches. So I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite dessert recipes, sure to count as your something green come March 17th.  What better way to celebrate (and protect yourself from pinches) than with one of these delightfully green goodies.  From shamrocks to mint and everything delicious, these charming ideas will help make your St. Paddy’s Day special.  If your weekend plans include a little holiday baking, this is a great place to start. Here’s 10 St. Patrick’s Day Treats to make!

10 St. Patrick's Day Treats and Desserts | on TheCakeBlog.com

1. Gold shamrock cupcakes by Martha Stewart. Chocolate stout cupcakes topped with adorable shamrocks formed using gold heart candies (which bummer, are sold out) but could be replicated with conversation hearts painted with edible gold dust. Recipe Here.

2. Shamrock Macarons by Raspberri Cupcakes. Green shamrock shaped macarons are filled with Baileys chocolate ganache. Recipe Here.

3. Leprechaun Hat S’mores by Carrie Sellman for The Cake Blog. Cookies coated in chocolate topped with a chocolate dipped marshmallow, a green brim and candy shamrocks. Recipe Here.

4. Mint Cookies and Cream Cake by Tessa Huff for The Cake Blog. Mint buttercream sandwiched between layers of cookie-studded cake, smothered with mint Oreo frosting and topped with drippy chocolate ganache. Recipe Here.

5. Shamrock Shake Cake by Confessions of a Cookbook Queen. A classic vanilla cake gets a minty makeover inspired by the seasonal McDonald’s Shamrock Shake. Recipe Here.

6. Pot of Gold Cupcakes by Baking A Moment. Dark chocolate cupcakes topped with adorable rainbow striped frosting and a gold coin on top. The kids will love these! Recipe Here.

7. Flourless Whiskey Cake by Well Plated by Erin. Intense chocolate cake spiked with Irish whiskey, topped with chocolate whiskey ganache and a green sprinkle shamrock. Bonus for it being gluten free, for our allergy conscious friends. Recipe Here.

8. Shamrock Shake Cupcakes by Brown Eyed Baker. Inspired by the seasonal shake, these green-hued vanilla-mint cupcakes are topped with fluffy whipped cream frosting and green maraschino cherries. Recipe Here.

9. Shamrock Shake Macarons by Baking A Moment. Can you tell we’re really digging these shake inspired treats? Besides, how can you resist a macaron that looks this adorable? Recipe Here.

10. Mint Cookies and Cream Cupcakes by Lauren Kapeluck for The Cake Blog. Chocolate cupcakes with a hidden treasure inside, topped with mint Oreo frosting and topped with a whole cookie. Recipe Here.
